My Spirituality

Spirituality "Though we seem to be sleeping, there is an inner wakefulness that directs the dream and that will eventually startle us back to the truth of who we are"  - Rumi

What is spirituality?

Traditionally spirituality has often been defined as a process of personal transformation. In many cases, this has been in accordance with religious ideals. Since the 19th century spirituality is often become separated from religion and state and has become more oriented towards subjective experiences and psychological growth related directly to the person undergoing the change and/or transformation.

Spirituality often means something different to everyone. For some, it's about participating in organized religion and/or setting of some kind: going to church, a ynagogue, a mosque, and so on. For others, it's more personal: some people get in touch with their spiritual side through private prayer, yoga, meditation, quiet reflection, or even long walks - it is completely dependent upon the peron themselves and on what they may or might be dealing with in their life at the time of the transformation .

Spirituality is something very personal. We always carry it around with us, it's forever expanding and it will eventually help to release us from the biggest fear that hinders most people from really living. That fear is death. Our lack of understanding of the 'beyond physical' existence usually undermines how to truly be alive. Oftentimes we allow others to interpret spirituality for us. In most cases, the after life scenario is not very reassuring or it lurks beyond our understanding.Death usually means that we lose everything and it seems to happen at random, arbitrarily. One day you are, the next day you're not. We may live long and happy lives or we may be struck down with illness and pain in the blink of an eye. Why? What's the point and who decides? Seek and you shall find. Ask and you shall receive but allow yourself to answer from your own heart and not what you've been taught or are 'supposed' to believe just because. More and more we are becoming aware that the universe is limitless and that also means that possibilities are limitless. Meaning, anything is possible! Again it comes down to a question. What do you choose to believe?

Give yourself this opportunity to explore your definition of spirituality in the privacy of your journal. If what you believe serves you, stick with it and it will be strengthened by your allowing it to be tested. If your beliefs no longer serve you, allow yourself to be strengthened with the power to choose again. Like a muscle, it will gain strength according to your ever expanding vision.

Spirituality is a part of "Who you are" and "Who you want to become". It will unfold itself to you as you give it more space to bloom. Process your thoughts and questions on this site and in your journal. Add what you feel is important to "Who I am" and "Who I want to become" and allow yourself the freedom to change as your views evolve.

Answer the questions that you feel most comfortable with or just talk about how you see your spirituality.

  • Q. What does the unknown/afterlife appear to you as?
  • Q. What is the point of your physical existence?
  • Q. Why so some people appear to have it all while others appear to have nothing?
  • Q. What is your role / mission on earth?
  • Q. How will you help others by helping yourself?
  • Q. What is your definition of "heaven" (on earth or somewhere else)
  • Q. Who will be there with you in heaven, if anyone (including pets, if you choose)?
  • Q. What is the environment like, what kind of landscape?
  • Q. What will you be doing?
  • Q. Where does this interpretation come from or is it your own?
  • Q. How do you want to be remembered when this existence is over?
